Nine unique pets launched with Early Access — dogs, cats and birds that carry your loot, fight beside you and feed the "Nine Lives" achievement. Here is the complete list the official wiki hasn't finished writing yet.
Quick answer
Pets unlock in the world first — then a message tells you a new pet is available at Myrll's shop, where you buy it (50 gold for the two with known prices) and equip it from the Pet Pen. Each pet takes 25 inventory weight when adventuring. Best documented unlocks: Fangra Cub (defeat the Wildwood Alpha Wolf), Frost Owl (southwest of Corin, north of the over-run shrine) and Moon Cat (northwest of The Shard Court, east of the Golem's Garden).

How pets actually work
- Loot courier: a pet's main exploration job is hauling — it carries your gathered loot back to base, finds a free chest, deposits it and returns to you
- Weight cost: bringing a pet along costs 25 inventory weight — plan your carry capacity
- No trading: pets can't be sold to merchants, traded to teammates, or stored in normal chests
- Combat role: pets apply status effects (Bleed, Frost, Stagger) that plug directly into your build's synergies
- Collection: unlock 1 pet for "Faithful Companion", all 9 for "Nine Lives"
Which pet for which build?
Match the pet to the problem: Moon Cat if your Shadow or caster runs dry on mana/Concentration; Carrion Parrot or Fangra Cub if your build already stacks Bleed; Ember Hound for Fire setups; Silver Cat when a boss keeps one-shotting you. Synergies beat rarity every time.
