Dimraeth Beginner's Guide: 12 Tips for Your First 5 Hours
Dimraeth doesn't explain itself much — the tutorial cave teaches combat and then lets go of your hand. These are the twelve things the community wishes it knew on day one of Early Access.
Difficulty: Souls-liteFirst boss: Monstrous DroopLevel cap: 25 (EA)
Quick answer
Pick Horned Vanguard (Minotaur Brawler) for the smoothest first run — 10 Strength, 8 Physical and a wide-swinging battle axe forgive early mistakes. In-game: loot everything in the tutorial cave, unlock the Earlwood guild hall and run its deeds for XP, spend XP at campfires, activate every waypoint you pass, and upgrade your healing flask with tender berries as early as you can.
Before you click "Create Character"
- Character creation is permanent. Race, class and appearance are locked in — your race × class pairing (the "archetype") decides your weapons, skill tree and passive. Read the 9-archetype table first; it is the one decision you cannot undo. Skills, at least, can be respecced later.
- World difficulty is chosen per world, not per character — and community reports say it's locked once the world is created. Playing solo? There is no shame in Normal: higher difficulties don't drop extra loot, they just hit harder.
- Playing with friends? After a launch-week hotfix, new lobbies default to friends-only — check your world privacy setting before wondering why nobody can join. Full details in the co-op guide.
Your first hour: the Lost Caverns
- Loot everything. The tutorial cave (the Lost Caverns) is generous — early gear, materials and spellbooks set up your entire first evening.
- The Monstrous Droop is the skill check. The cave's boss teaches dodging on telegraphed slams; beating it earns the Blob Slayer achievement. If you're stuck, level once or twice outside and come back.
- Clearing your first dungeon unlocks Sanctum building — your long-term home base project, so don't skip it.
Earlwood and the XP engine
- Unlock the guild hall chest early and check the bounty board: community reports put bounties at roughly 200–400 XP each, versus about 2 XP per slime and 5 per goblin. Deeds and bounties are the fastest leveling in the game by an order of magnitude.
- Spend XP at campfires. XP in Dimraeth is a currency you invest at campfires to raise attributes — sitting at a fire is how "leveling up" actually happens. See the max level guide for the cost curve.
- Activate every waypoint you pass. Waypoint-to-waypoint teleporting is free, and the walk you skip today is the walk you skip forever.
- Feed your flask tender berries. Your healing flask starts weak and can be upgraded — community reports say up to 7 charges. Tender berries are the upgrade material; grab them whenever you see them.
Habits that pay off forever
- Salvage, don't hoard. The forge breaks old gear down into crafting materials — you'll want a stockpile once recipes open up. (More in the crafting guide.)
- Know your early bottleneck: players consistently report Pinewood Planks (processed in the Farmlands) as the first material gate for base upgrades.
- Get a pet hauling for you. A pet carries loot home while you keep fighting — the pets guide has the fastest unlocks.
- Bring a control spell. One Gravity Well or Frost Pillar trivializes pulls that otherwise kill you. The spells list explains the 5-slot framework.
Honesty box: XP figures, flask charge counts and difficulty-lock details above come from community day-one checklists and player reports (September 2026), not from an official manual — Mudtek doesn't publish one. We flag community-sourced numbers so you know exactly how much to trust them, and we correct this page as patches land.
FAQ
Is Dimraeth hard for beginners?
It's Souls-lite: dodging and stamina discipline matter, but it's far more forgiving than a true Souls game. Picking a sturdy archetype like Horned Vanguard (Minotaur Brawler) and keeping your healing flask upgraded smooths out most of the early difficulty.
What is the best class for beginners in Dimraeth?
Minotaur Brawler — the Horned Vanguard archetype. It starts with 10 Strength and 8 Physical, wields a wide-swinging battle axe, and forgives positioning mistakes while you learn enemy patterns.
Can you change difficulty in Dimraeth?
Community reports say world difficulty is set when the world is created and can't be changed afterwards. Higher difficulties hit harder but don't drop extra loot, so Normal is the sensible first world.
Can you respec in Dimraeth?
Skills can be respecced. Race, class and appearance are locked at character creation, and community reports mention an attribute reset option appearing later via a Sanctum NPC — treat that last part as unconfirmed until you see it in-game.
