Dimraeth Best Class: All 9 Archetypes Ranked for Your First Run
In Dimraeth you don't pick a class — you pick a race × class combination called an archetype. Here is the full launch table, what each one plays like, and which to start with.
Quick answer
For the easiest first run, take Minotaur Brawler (Horned Vanguard) — it starts with 10 Strength, 8 Physical, 8 Energy and a wide-hitting battle axe, so ordinary early fights are comfortable before any gear or spellbooks. Want ranged flexibility? Human Magician (Elemental Ranger). Want speed? Elf Shadow (Night's Whisper).
The 9 Early Access archetypes
| Race | Class | Archetype | Signature kit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Human | Magician | Elemental Ranger | Sword + crossbow, Fireball, Blizzard, Weapon Swap, Aimed Shot — tags: Hunter, Blade, Fire, Frost |
| Human | Brawler | Wild Strider | Adaptable weapon master, sword/crossbow swaps, balanced stats |
| Human | Shadow | Gloomstalker | Stealth and shadow-clone utility with human flexibility |
| Minotaur | Brawler | Horned Vanguard | Battle axe, 10 STR start, Boulder Toss-style heavy control — the beginner pick |
| Minotaur | Magician | Earthshaker | Battle axe + Earth/Fire/Frost magic; Strength adds Magic Damage |
| Minotaur | Shadow | Xwin Dreadhorn | Heavy frame with Shadow mobility — an unusual bruiser-assassin hybrid |
| Elf | Magician | Echo Weaver | Dedicated caster: time magic plus fire and frost from the start |
| Elf | Brawler | Phase Duellist | Fast melee strings with elven agility |
| Elf | Shadow | Night's Whisper | Twin daggers, Vanishing Strike, Backstep Strike, Chrono Spike; Agility adds Stamina |
So… what is the best class?
There is no single best class — each archetype has a "primary" attribute that gives the most value per point, nudging you toward a build without forcing it. The real question is which combat rhythm you enjoy:
- Easiest first run: Horned Vanguard — wide melee coverage deletes early packs before you own any specialized gear
- Most flexible: Elemental Ranger — crossbow when melee is scary, sword and spells when it isn't
- Highest tempo: Night's Whisper — constant repositioning, crits and plague-style status
- Best caster: Echo Weaver — pure spellcasting with time magic utility
- Most unusual: Earthshaker — a Strength-scaling battle-mage; great in co-op where allies can hold aggro
Whichever you pick, commit for a few hours before judging — early quests hand out enough XP, skills and gear to reveal whether the rhythm fits. Builds for each archetype live in our build guide, and attribute XP costs in the leveling guide.
